Walking Hares Ear

This Hares Ear variation was developed by Westflyer Nick Borders. Like the Hares Ear, it can be tied to suggest many different species of nymphs.

How to Fish

In rivers, use the trout indicator, tight line, rising nymph, or shallow nymph presentations. In lakes, the count-down-and-retrieve or slow retrieve presentations are most useful.

HOOK: TMC 3761 or equivalent, size 12-18

THREAD: Brown or black

TAIL: Hares mask guard hares. Tail should be pointing down at a 45 degree angle.

RIB: Gold mylar tinsel or copper wire

BODY: Hare ear dubbing

WINGCASE/LEGS: Turkey tail pulled over thorax and tied down. Split the fibers and pull each half back and down the side. Trim to form legs.
