RS-2 Emerger

Created by Bill Fitzsimmons

HOOK: 1X fine wire, standard shank, turned-down eye; e.g., TMC 100 or equivalent. Size 16-20

THREAD: Gray 8/0

WING: Dark dun CDC, tied upright

TAIL: Muscrat guard hairs. Use only two or three.

BODY: Muscrat dubbing

Imitates an emerging mayfly. The muscrat dubbing makes this a general purpose emerger pattern--never exactly a match, but close enough to fool trout except when they are being selective.

How to Fish

Use standard dry fly presentations. DO NOT use floatant. The fly needs to sit flush in the film, with only the wing supporting it.
