Humpies can be productive in fast, riffly water because they float well. But in calm, slow currents and clear water, Humpies are not as useful. So choose a fly pattern that matches the water you are fishing. If adult insects are present, you might want to pick a fly the matches the color and size of the prevailing naturals. Or not--Humpies work as a general purpose attractor.



Useful body colors include: cream, red, chartreuse, yellow, orange, royal.
