Recipe

HOOK: 2X heavy, 1X long, Turned-down eye; e.g., TMC 3761 or equivalent. Size 14-20

THREAD: Black 8/0

HEAD: Tungsten or brass bead

TAIL: Pheasant tail fibers

BODY: Fine copper wire

WINGCASE: Medium pearl Flashabout or equivalent

THORAX: Peacock herl. Place a small amount of epoxy on top when done tying.

LEGS: Hen hackle or other soft hackle

 

Uses

Use as a general purpose attractor nymph, especially when mayflies are present.

 

Variations

Use different body colors as desired. Common variations: red, black.

 

How to Fish

Use trout indicator or tight line presentation to dead-drift fly near the bottom; or use as a dropper from a large dry fly.
