Uses

Imitates nymphs of stoneflies and pupae of October caddis.

Variations

Vary size and color to match natural insects. You can also wrap an underbody of thin lead for extra weight.

How to Fish

Dead drift on the bottom with an trout indicator or tight line presentation.

Tying Instructions

1. De-barb hook, slide on beads, place in vise, and start thread.

2. Tie in tail.

3. Tie in copper wire ribbing.

4. Tie in pheasant tail for back.

5. Dub body to back bead.

6. Pull back over top of body and tie down.

7. Wrap copper wire ribbing forward and tie down behind back bead.

8. Tie in legs between beads.

9. Dub thorax.

10. Wrap collar.

11. Whip-finish and trim.

HOOK: Standard wire, 3XL shank, Straight eye nymph hook; e.g., Dai Riki 270 or equivalent; sizes 10-14

THREAD: Brown

TAIL: Pheasant tail

RIBBING: Fine copper wire

BACK: Pheasant tail

BODY: Light Antron/squirrel blend

LEGS: Fine black-tipped tan rubber legs

THORAX: Peacock Ice Dub

COLLAR: English grouse
