Foam Adult Damselfly

Recipe

HOOK: 1X fine wire, standard shank, turned-down eye; e.g., TMC 100 or equivalent. Size 8.

THREAD: Blue

ABDOMEN: Blue damselfly body. Add black stripes with a Sharpie pen.

BACK: Blue closed foam. Tie in one end in front of the abdomen (you'll pull it over later).

HACKLE: Grizzly tied around foam back, parachute style.

BODY: Blue dubbing or thin blue foam. After dubbing the body, pull the blue foam back over the top and tie off at the head.

Uses

Trout take damselfly nymphs far more often than adults. However, sometimes they will take an adult off the surface when the wind is still, so it's a good idea to carry a few imitations during the height of summer when the adults are active.

How to Fish

Dress the fly with floatant and use the chuck-and-sit presentation.
